Antique Ohio Amish
"Spirit of St. Louis" Quilt
Description: This dated and signed 1939 Amish quilt is an original design. It is inspired by Charles Lindberghs non-stop flight from New York to Paris in 1927 in his airplane " The Spirit of St. Louis". There are 43 multicolored propellers, all framed nicely with a double border. It is machine pieced and hand quilted. The cable, cross hatch and pumpkin seed quilting displays consistent stitches 7-8 stitches to the inch. The binding is hand applied and the batting is thin. A sleeve has been attached for displaying. 100% cotton.
Condition: It is in good condition, strong and sturdy. The lighter fabrics are showing some discoloration and there is some loss of fabric with small holes worn through.
